“I got a pocket full of quarters/and I’m headed to the arcade…”

It’s not exactly the Arcade, but that’s what Russ and I like to call it. And it’s not Pac-Man Fever – for me, it’s all about BUFFALO!

This is a post about going to the Hard Rock Casino in Bristol. Since my surgery in December, I’m on medical restrictions that prohibit me from going to the gym to workout while my body is healing (I can go back to the gym in March). So, to get my exercise in, I’ve been going to the “Arcade” two or three times a week to walk. I can get my steps in and stop to sit down if I get tired. If I’m hungry or thirsty, there are several dining options to choose from. Sometimes I play a little; other times, I just walk. Sometimes I just sit and talk to people – I’m apparently one of those people it’s easy for others to just open up to and they tell me all kinds of interesting things. As a writer, this is a great gift to have – I’ll never run out of stories if people keep telling me theirs!

I do play more days than not, though. I’m a little obsessed with the various Buffalo games. I love getting Buffalo on at least three reels of a slot machine and yelling out with the machine, “BUFFALO!” The more Buffalo on the more reels, the better because that means you win more.

When the Arcade – er, um, casino – first came to town over two years ago, I was a one-game woman. Buffalo Gold Collection. Last fall when we saw the Jacksons in Cincinnati and visited the Hard Rock in Northern Indiana, I branched out to Instant Hit Buffalo and Wild Wild Buffalo. Since then, I’ve been mad about Wild Wild Buffalo for the past few months. In recent weeks, I’ve branched out a little more to Buffalo Ascension and Jackpot Carnival Buffalo, the latter of which is like having three game options in one. Buffalo Ascension and Jackpot Carnival Buffalo are also available in a suite of video games available for free download by Cashman Casino. I like playing there, too. It’s like practicing with someone else’s money.

Do I play anything other than Buffalo games? Sometimes I sit down at Mo’ Mummy, but to be honest, it’s almost always a waste of my time and money. Russ is really lucky at it. Me? Not so much. Give me a home where the Buffalo roam… That’s where I’m content to play. Some days are better than others. Last Friday was good. Somehow, I ended up with 145 free games on Buffalo Ascension. That doesn’t happen every day. For 145 games, it wasn’t a huge payout – but I was more than happy with my reward! I’ve never had a $400 payout in one hit before. I’m open to having it happen again, though. I’m not saying that everyone should gamble. And if you do, you need to know your limits and play within them. Heed Kenny Rogers’ advice – “know when to walk away/know when to run.” And if you think (or know) you have a problem, seek help. As for me, I’m just out there looking for some BUFFALO every now and then!
